Common warts, flat warts and plantar warts are caused by different strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV) and appear on the hands, face, feet or genitals.
What is it?
Warts are noncancerous, rough bumps that form on the skin when the human papillomavirus (HPV) enters the body through a cut or break. These raised, skin-colored growths can appear anywhere and often resemble blisters. Though harmless, many patients choose to have them removed to prevent spreading through contact—or simply because they don’t like the appearance of warts on their body.
Warts are classified into three main types, each with distinct characteristics and common locations on the body.
How is it treated?
There’s currently no cure for the virus that causes warts, however the team at Charlotte Dermatology can treat them early to help prevent growth and spreading.
